Ok, so you love our cupcakes…they are so yummy and cute.  Well, now you can dress them up in fashionable cupcake couture!  We’ve added these fabulous cupcake wrappers to our line at the showroom, you can purchase them with your order of cupcakes, or separately.  We’re so excited to be the first to carry them in Syracuse.  Jen has her favorite wrapper style, but there are so many to choose from.  Check out how beautifully they compliment cake decor…perfect for those cool couples that want cake AND cupcakes at their event!

These wrappers can be purchased in packs of 12 for 12$ and stand at nearly 2″tall, perfect size for any baked standard, or slightly larger like Jen’s, cupcake.  Stop in today to see the styles available!  And of course we can order for you!  One of Jen’s favorites:

Isn’t this just the cutest?  We love it for place card/dessert dual use.  Just have Jen beautifully write the guest’s name on the wrapper and you can serve it boxed with ribbon or by itself at the table setting!  So cute.  Here are some of the other options.

Just say no to naked cupcakes! We’ll see you soon at the showroom.

Down the Aisle at Bridge Street

February 17, 2010 by cakegrl ·

On Monday, I was happy to visit Bridge Street (www.9wsyr.com) again to show off some wedding cake ideas.  Below is the clip from the show, followed by some photos of the cakes I took. Follow the link and enjoy!

Don’t forget, the inspiration for your wedding cakes can come from anywhere!  The brown and blue was inspired by some simple s-scroll work and I added the vertical stripes to modernize it a bit.  It went perfectly with the brown and blue Bella Cupcake Couture wrappers we now carry at the showroom.  I’ll talk about those in my next post.  The peacock cake was inspired by a very popular invitation done by Bride Design, you can purchase it on her site.  And the last cake was inspired by a linen I borrowed from The Events Company a couple months ago.  I’ll be visiting TEC in March for one of their Mimosa Saturdays.  More info on that soon as well.  Be creative with your cakes! Or, come see me, and I’ll help you be as creative as possible!

The New Showroom is READY!

March 13, 2009 by cakegrl ·

Join me for the grand opening from Monday March 30th until Friday April 3rd from 10am until 6pm!  The showroom is located at 8195 Route 92/Cazenovia Road, Manlius NY - just look for my awning out front!

Well, it’s a couple weeks beyond my originally planned date, but furniture is finally all in, most of my finishing touches are finished and I am ready to rock and roll.  I can’t wait to see you there!

First a couple details, and then the photos.  The purpose of the showroom is, well, to show what I can create for you.  But it goes beyond that.  Because I value your time as much as my own and really strive to focus on treating you to the best cake experience you can have, I’ve been coming to you - the client - on a regular basis for tastings and meetings.  That means I’ve visited many a hotel or coffee shop over the last few years and I have grown tired of it and grown out of it.  This showroom will display quite a bit of my work, as well as some of my other favorite event professionals in our area.  You’ll be able to come in and do your tasting in comfort and style, and purchase an item or too and of course plan to contact some of those great companies whose info I’ll have on hand for you.  You can view gorgeous prints from some terrific photographers, browse delicious stationery from Bride Design, enjoy a cup of coffee roasted right here in CNY, and be in the know for networking and seminars or workshops for your event planning needs!

The hours are as planned:  Mondays, every Monday except some holidays, from 9am to 2pm.  Wednesdays from about 5pm to 7pm (ish) and other times by appointment for tastings or cake pick ups.  We’ll add other hours as soon as we can.

Don’t forget, there will NOT be cake on hand ready to go unless you have ordered it ahead of time.  The licensed kitchen is STILL in South Otselic and ALL baking still takes place there.  Plan ahead - typically a week is enough.  And yes…we do all cakes, not just wedding cakes.

What will be on hand though, are some really cute cake themed items, some stationery, and even some tshirts and wearables.  I’ll also have examples of particular designs for holiday gift giving and cakes for your celebrations.

Ok…now, onto the photos!  I can’t wait for you to see it!

Stay tuned for the Open House!

March 3, 2009 by cakegrl ·

I’m working as fast as I can to get it ready for you.  Right now, we’re waiting on furniture that I have on order.  The painting is complete and looks deliciously pink!  I am using the same pink/black/white color scheme as here in the studio kitchen, I just love it so much.  I can’t wait for the completed room so I can show it off to you.  I’ll let you all know as soon as I have a firm date, but we’re thinking mid to end of March.  It’s soon!!  Here are a couple of photos.  It’s in Manlius, can you figure out where?  The awning might give it away.

Get a ticket to Well Wed Bridal Show…

January 29, 2009 by cakegrl ·

finger_lakes_brand_new_sidebar-91x300 Get a ticket to Well Wed Bridal Show...If you’re in or will be in the CNY or Fingerlakes area next weekend (Feb 7), join me at the show at The Lodge! I have some tickets I’d love to give away!! I’m not displaying at this show, but I will be there to visit some of my favorite vendors and have a look around to see if I may want to do this show the next time it comes around. My first stop will be to The Backyard Garden Florist booth to say hi to Nino. Make sure you say and have a look at his amazing flowers and portfolio. You don’t need me to tell you how great he is, he just oozes with talent.

This is also an opportunity to see The Lodge first hand if you haven’t.  Paula is amazing with her brides and the space is incredible.  It is one of my favorite places to work with.  I look forward to all the couples this season that will have their cakes delivered there.

Email me or comment for tickets, I’ll amend the post when they’re gone. Hurry! And see you there!

Until then, I’ll be working on wedding cakes and continuing the remodel that is going on here to create a larger and improved space for my clients new and old.  I’ll also be preparing for the one show that I will participate in later this spring so stay tuned for that.

Today, I’m working on Nicole’s wedding cake, and hey, guess who is doing the florals…yep, you guessed it - Nino!  I can’t wait to show you the finished cake after this weekend.  But even more, I can’t wait to see Nicole’s expression when she sees it all come together after all her planning.

Don’t forget to comment or email for a show ticket, you won’t be able to get them at the door, at least that’s what they say.  Happy Planning everyone!

Many thanks to at Michelle at My Personal Artist for sharing this awesome video she found via Indianapolis Wedding Blog. It is worth the watch, trust me.

I wonder if any of my couples this year will get this creative. The days of the boring ol’ first dance are gone thanks to tradition bustin’ fun couples like this one - and YouTube of course! What will you be doing for your first dance?

Our winner for Bride Wars tickets!

January 16, 2009 by cakegrl ·

Thanks to everyone who entered. It was fun reading your responses and having flash backs to the scenes you described in your favorite movies! Our feeble attempt at a scientific method of choosing the winner consisted of my young one picking a number between one and eight and a giggle or two at the thought of seeing Jimmy actually start his wedding vows this coming August by reciting a line from his favorite scene.

That’s right, the winner is poster #8; Jimmy.

Jimmy, expect an email tonight with info on receiving your Fandango Bucks to go see the movie. Enjoy it with your fiance or maybe even one of your groomsmen…you seem like you’ve got a great sense of humor!

Thanks again readers!

Bride Wars tickets giveaway!

January 12, 2009 by cakegrl ·

Last Friday, on opening night here in Syracuse, fellow wedding vendor extraordinaire Erin from Bride Design and I went to see this new flick starring Kate Hudson and Anne Hathaway. The movie might have been a little cheesy, but for lovers of all things weddings and fans of having a girls night out, it was a blast for us. The theater was packed with what I assume was part single girls with a wish, part bridal party chums, and even part boyfriend/fiance dragged to their seatsenjoying a great movie, but it was packed none the less. Erin and I really enjoyed it and we know you will too.

That’s why we’re each giving away Fandango bucks this week for one lucky winner. All you have to do is leave a comment with your favorite wedding movie or wedding scene and you can win $20 in Fandango bucks, accepted at most theaters around the country. If you’re not sure if your theater works through fandango.com, just type your zip code in on their home page and find out. After I’ve read all the entries and choose the winner based on whatever scientific means of fairness I devise, I’ll let you know who has won Friday morning and send 20$ fandango bucks to you via email for your viewing pleasure!Total of 4 tickets between Erin’s giveaway at Bride Design and mine here at She Takes The Cake, so you can double your chances by entering both!

I’ll have to admit, I think Erin could identify more with the little girl inside these two characters and their passion for weddings; I never did have a wedding box filled with my dreams and wishes for my big day when I was young (I saved that for my 20’s). I did enjoy the humor in this movie though, and sharing it with my best gal pal was the way to go! I can’t imagine that anyone would ever go as far as these brides went in the movie, but what a stress reliever it was to watch it, especially if you’re mid planning and need a break!

So, here’s to all you brides out there…and to the winners, enjoy!
