Bella Cupcake Couture at She Takes The Cake
March 1, 2010 by cakegrl ·
Ok, so you love our cupcakes…they are so yummy and cute. Well, now you can dress them up in fashionable cupcake couture! We’ve added these fabulous cupcake wrappers to our line at the showroom, you can purchase them with your order of cupcakes, or separately. We’re so excited to be the first to carry them in Syracuse. Jen has her favorite wrapper style, but there are so many to choose from. Check out how beautifully they compliment cake decor…perfect for those cool couples that want cake AND cupcakes at their event!
These wrappers can be purchased in packs of 12 for 12$ and stand at nearly 2″tall, perfect size for any baked standard, or slightly larger like Jen’s, cupcake. Stop in today to see the styles available! And of course we can order for you! One of Jen’s favorites:
Isn’t this just the cutest? We love it for place card/dessert dual use. Just have Jen beautifully write the guest’s name on the wrapper and you can serve it boxed with ribbon or by itself at the table setting! So cute. Here are some of the other options.
Just say no to naked cupcakes! We’ll see you soon at the showroom.

Down the Aisle at Bridge Street

On Monday, I was happy to visit Bridge Street (www.9wsyr.com) again to show off some wedding cake ideas. Below is the clip from the show, followed by some photos of the cakes I took. Follow the link and enjoy!
Don’t forget, the inspiration for your wedding cakes can come from anywhere! The brown and blue was inspired by some simple s-scroll work and I added the vertical stripes to modernize it a bit. It went perfectly with the brown and blue Bella Cupcake Couture wrappers we now carry at the showroom. I’ll talk about those in my next post. The peacock cake was inspired by a very popular invitation done by Bride Design, you can purchase it on her site. And the last cake was inspired by a linen I borrowed from The Events Company a couple months ago. I’ll be visiting TEC in March for one of their Mimosa Saturdays. More info on that soon as well. Be creative with your cakes! Or, come see me, and I’ll help you be as creative as possible!
A Wedding Affair to remember
February 11, 2009 by cakegrl ·
This entry is a tad late but I still wanted to share the photos and info with you. On Feb 7th, I took a display cake to the Wedding Affair show produced by Well Wed Magazine that was held at the fantastic Lodge at Welch Allyn in Skaneateles. I’ve long been a fan of Paula and the rest of the folks at The Lodge and had to take part in this event, no matter how small my part would be. I didn’t represent with a full booth, and if you were there as a bride you probably didn’t even know I was there but hopefully you saw and enjoyed my display cake and samples and more importantly I hope you were as impressed with this show and all the amazing vendors as I was. Here are some photos for you to enjoy. The cake is obviously mine; I designed it to go with the Bollywood theme of the night, and the rest of the images are various displays from the night. Even though this event is over, you can check out the Wedding Affair in NY link for more information on participating vendors and content. Thanks Krista and everyone else at Well Wed, and thanks Paula - the ultimate hotess yet again!
Get a ticket to Well Wed Bridal Show…
January 29, 2009 by cakegrl ·
If you’re in or will be in the CNY or Fingerlakes area next weekend (Feb 7), join me at the show at The Lodge! I have some tickets I’d love to give away!! I’m not displaying at this show, but I will be there to visit some of my favorite vendors and have a look around to see if I may want to do this show the next time it comes around. My first stop will be to The Backyard Garden Florist booth to say hi to Nino. Make sure you say and have a look at his amazing flowers and portfolio. You don’t need me to tell you how great he is, he just oozes with talent.
This is also an opportunity to see The Lodge first hand if you haven’t. Paula is amazing with her brides and the space is incredible. It is one of my favorite places to work with. I look forward to all the couples this season that will have their cakes delivered there.
Email me or comment for tickets, I’ll amend the post when they’re gone. Hurry! And see you there!
Until then, I’ll be working on wedding cakes and continuing the remodel that is going on here to create a larger and improved space for my clients new and old. I’ll also be preparing for the one show that I will participate in later this spring so stay tuned for that.
Today, I’m working on Nicole’s wedding cake, and hey, guess who is doing the florals…yep, you guessed it - Nino! I can’t wait to show you the finished cake after this weekend. But even more, I can’t wait to see Nicole’s expression when she sees it all come together after all her planning.
Don’t forget to comment or email for a show ticket, you won’t be able to get them at the door, at least that’s what they say. Happy Planning everyone!
Cake crush

I’ve switched it up a bit here and added a link love area so you could check out some cool links of old and new favorite sites and blogs in and around the wedding or cake industry. My current cake crush is on Clara’s Designer Cakes in Maryland. She emailed me this weekend and if you know me, you know that meant I probably called her on the phone instead of a boring old email. She’s an open book like me so to speak and thus I have a new cake friend. I am blown away by her level of skill for such a short time. Hopefully sometime soon we’ll meet in person for a structered sugar art lesson play date. She thinks I could teach her something, I think it will be a two way street for sure. Have cake, will travel…that’s me.
